Who is Adera?

Adera is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lightwave Communications, LLC., an established Maryland regional phone company serving 15,000 residential and small business customers in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Adera was created specifically to provide Broadband Phone Service to those residential and business customers, who demanded a cost effective alternative to traditional phone service, but still wanted the same customer support and advanced calling features provided by Lightwave Communications for its traditional phone customers.

How does Broadband Phone Service work?

Broadband Phone Service allows you to make and receive phone calls using a high speed Internet connection.

When you make a phone call, you use your normal touch-tone telephone and dial the phone number just as you would any other time. The people on the other end can't tell whether you are calling from a traditional telephone service or from our Broadband Phone Service. The main difference is that the phone call travels over the Internet bypassing the local phone company.

To use Broadband Phone Service, you need a high speed (Broadband) Internet connection, either DSL or cable, and a phone adapter, which Adera provides as part of the service. Adera will also provide professional installation so that you can continue to use your existing home phones, thereby eliminating the need to purchase new wireless phones or limiting the phone service to only one area of your home or business. Your existing phone number stays the same and you will have full access to E-911 emergency calling. You do not even need a computer.

Your phone will continue to work the same as always. Call anyone you want, any time you want, and any where you want.
